Conor McGregor vs Jim Alers set for Cage Warriors Fight Night 7

Conor McGregor will defend his Cage Warriors featherweight title for the first time when the organisation returns to Amman on September 1 for CWFC Fight Night 7.

Jim Alers will provide the opposition for McGregor at the New Boxing Arena, as Cage Warriors stages its fourth show in the Jordanian capital since last year.

Alers (8-1) earned top contender status courtesy of his impressive win over Matteus Lahdesmaki at CWFC Fight Night 6 in Bahrain in May.

25-year-old Florida native Alers stopped Lahdesmaki, one of Europe’s top 10 featherweights, by TKO in the second round, securing his third victory under the Cage Warriors banner.

September’s title bout will be Alers’ first since he recently inked an exclusive five-fight deal with Cage Warriors that commits him to the organisation for the next 18 months.

McGregor (11-2) was crowned CWFC featherweight champion last month at Cage Warriors 47 in his hometown of Dublin, Ireland.

Following wins over Steve O’Keeffe and Aron Jahnsen, the 23-year-old submitted Dave Hill via second-round rear-naked choke to take the title.

There will be two Cage Warriors titles on the line at CWFC Fight Night 7, with Victor Cheng scheduled to take on Pavel Kusch in the final of the organisation’s middleweight title tournament.
