Cage Warriors set to return to Dublin in 2012

Graham Boylan, CEO of Cage Warriors, has hailed the success of last weekend’s show in Dublin, vowing to bring CWFC back to the Irish capital again before the end of the year.

Cage Warriors 47, which took place at the sold-out Helix in Dublin on Saturday night, was one of the organisation’s must successful shows to date.

It featured eight professional fights and four amateur undercard bouts, and the action was of the highest quality from start to finish.

The welterweight meeting of Cathal Pendred and David Bielkheden and the women’s flyweight title tournament semi-final between Rosi Sexton and Aisling Daly shared ‘Fight of the Night’ honours.

There were also two new CWFC champions crowned, as DJ Linderman took the heavyweight strap from Mike Hayes, while Conor McGregor (pictured) defeated Dave Hill to capture the vacant featherweight title.

“We’ve done some crazy shows since I took control of Cage Warriors in 2010, but Saturday in Dublin was absolutely incredible,” said Boylan.

“The standard of all the fights, both amateur and professional, was of the highest order and the Dublin fans almost took the roof off The Helix. The atmosphere was insane.

“Another show in Dublin wasn’t initially on the Cage Warriors schedule for 2012, but after the success of Cage Warriors 47, we want to get back there as soon as possible.

“As an Irishman, it’s important to me to give the Irish fighters and fans access to a big show that they don’t otherwise have.

“MMA is in its early stages in Ireland, but when you look at fighters of the calibre of McGregor, Pendred, Daly and [Neil] Seery, they need to be given the big platform they deserve to showcase their talents.

“I’ll be bringing Cage Warriors to Dublin again this year and twice, possibly three times, in 2013.”

Next on the agenda for Cage Warriors is CWFC 48 at the HMV Forum in London on July 21. Keep track of us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest news and updates.
