Sean O’Malley says UFC have offered him ‘TUF Finale’ main event slot

UFC bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley says the UFC have offered him a main event spot on their TUF 27 Finale card.

O’Malley is currently sidelined with a foot injury sustained during his victory over Andre Soukamthath at UFC 222 but he says the promotion have offered him the main event slot on the July 7th card against an unnamed opponent.

“Suga” Sean made his promotional debut on ‘The Ultimate fighter: A New World Champion’ last December in Las Vegas in the co-main event and the Arizona based fighter defeated Terrion Ware via decision.

The MMA Lab fighter joined Niall McGrath on this week’s Talking Brawls Podcast.

“It’s an Ultimate fighter Finale card, where I made my debut. Not a co-main but they’ll put me as the main. That would be cool,’ said O’Malley.

The 23-year-old is undefeated in his MMA career (10-0) and has had two successive UFC victories since winning a contract to fight for the promotion on Dana White’s Contender Series show.

The 135lb fighter says his main focus is getting his foot rehabilitated before returning to the gym. O’Malley says no opponent was mentioned by the UFC and that his team haven’t discussed a potential opponent for the July date yet.

“We will be looking for an opponent in the next month or two months. I’m trying to put my mind somewhere else. I’m into gaming right now. I’m trying to let my foot heal and not being too anxious about getting back to the gym because that’s not going to help at all, wishing I could train when I can’t. So I’m taking it a day at a time, and going with the flow. “
