Artem Lobov will get another chance to impress UFC brass when he meets Alex White in Las Vegas on February 6 at UFC 196.

‘The Russian Hammer’ made a name for himself on the back of his three consecutive knockout wins as a member of his SBG stable mate Conor McGregor’s Team Europe on the latest season of the UFC’s reality platform, The Ultimate Fighter.

Despite losing out to Ryan Hall in the finale of the series, in an exclusive interview with SevereMMA.com in December, Lobov revealed that he would get a second chance to claim a UFC contract based on conversations he had with “very important” members of the promotion’s staff.

His opponent, White, has lost his last two bouts under the promotional banner to Clay Collard and Lucas Martins, with his sole win with the promotion coming in his debut against Estevan Payan back in April 2014.

Lobov claimed that White’s style will make for an interesting matchup, but he is confident that he will send the American and his “padded record” packing when they eventually meet on February 6 in Las Vegas.

“It felt good to get the call and I was happy with the opponent that I got,” said Lobov. “He’s a guy that doesn’t mind standing up, he’s a southpaw and he’s a bit tall so it’s going to be a good one.

“He’s one of the guys that I’ve been talking about for a very long time. He’s a guy with a padded record, he went into UFC undefeated and now he’s lost two in the UFC. He’s a guy that didn’t deserve his shot. He didn’t earn it, he didn’t fight his way up.

“I don’t know why he got in there. Maybe it was his padded record, maybe it’s because he’s got the same surname as Dana, maybe they’re related–who knows? I certainly don’t but I’ll be looking to kick him out of there.”

“If he loses he’s definitely out. The situation is the same as mine, but I have a feeling that they want me there more than they want him.”
