Tom Lawlor out of UFC Dublin; UFC seeking a replacement

Unfortunately, UFC Ireland on July 19th has lost one of it’s biggest names just three weeks out.

American Tom Lawlor (9-5) has been forced to pull out of his light-heavyweight bout with Swede Ilir Latifi. The UFC is now looking for a replacement for Latifi. The news was first broken by mmajunkie.com

Irishman Chris Fields seems the obvious replacement after contesting the most recent season of the Ultimate Fighter as a 205 pounder. Fans of Fields, a former Cage Warriors middleweight champion, have campaigned for a place in the UFC after his elimination and this may be the perfect opportunity for both him and the promotion.

Headlining the card will be Fields’ teammate Conor McGregor who takes on fellow top-15 featherweight Diego Brandao. The event sold out in a matter of moments. Check out the fight card below.
