Conor McCarthy to face Gianluca Rocca in Cage Warriors Debut

Conor McCarthy’s Cage Warriors debut is set!

McCarthy—who signed a multi-fight deal with the leading UK promotion in August—is scheduled to face Gianluca Rocca (8-4) in a lightweight contest on Saturday 2nd November at Cage Warriors 179 in Rome, Italy. Sources with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the news to SevereMMA.com.

Training out of SBG Naas under Peter Queally, McCarthy (2-0) has notched back-to-back first-round finishes since turning professional in February. Unbeaten since 2022, “The Hotstepper” has soared on the Irish regional scene and will be aiming to make an impact when he dons the famous yellow gloves.

Gianluca Rocca is no stranger to Cage Warriors. The Italian fighter is 1-1 in the promotion. “Django” scored a 20-second submission over compatriot Guido Possidente (3-0) when the promotion visited the Italian capital in 2023. Most recently, Rocca suffered a decision loss to James Power at CW168 in March.

Cage Warriors 179 will take place at PalaPellicone.
