Hathaway injured; UFC seeking new opponent for Gunnar Nelson

John Hathaway was set to face Gunnar Nelson at UFC 189 in July but Hathaway has been forced to withdraw with an undisclosed injury according to MMAJunkie.

The UFC are seeking a short notice replacement to step up and face Gunnar at the 11th July 2015  event in Las Vegas. Unfortunately the one welterweight who recently has been vocal about wanting to fight on short notice is Gunnar’s SBG team mate Cathal Pendred.

Update: Brandon Thatch will now face Gunnar Nelson, and John Howard will face Cathal Pendred at UFC 189
