Former Cage Warriors champion Paul McVeigh (18-7) has an opponent for next week’s Cage Warriors 50 headliner.

The veteran Irish fighter and “The Ultimate Fighter 14” competitor will meet Idaho-based prospect and promotional newcomer Brandon Hempleman (8-1) in a 130-pound catchweight affair.

Cage Warriors officials today confirmed the fight, which takes place 8th of December at Kelvin Hall in Glasgow, Scotland. The main card streams on MMAjunkie.com following prelims on Facebook.

McVeigh, a 10-year vet of the European fight circuit, was on a 5-1 run and a three-fight win streak before a December 2011 loss to Erik Perez at BAMMA 8. Prior to the setback, which marks his most recent performance, the 30-year-old picked up a TKO win and a title defense over Andreas Bernhard at Cage Warriors 40 (though McVeigh late vacated the bantamweight belt). It moved his overall Cage Warriors record to a perfect 8-0.

Hempleman, a three-and-a-half-year pro, is riding a five-fight win streak, which included a Nov. 12 split-decision win over veteran Olly Bradstreet (36-11 at the time). The Team Sklvaos fighter now fights outside of the U.S. for the first time and meets one of his most accomplished opponents yet.
